The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is pleased to announce the implementation of our 9th Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS) in Santa Barbara County. This project consists of the installation of a fixed Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS) in the Purisima Hills area of Santa Barbara County on land owned by Sentinel Peak Resources near the Burton Mesa communities of Vandenberg Village, Mission Hills, and Mesa Oaks.

Santa Maria, Calif. - On March 21, a tanker truck collision on Highway 166 resulted in up to 6,000 gallons of crude oil being released into the Cuyama River, a tributary of the Santa Maria River. A Unified Command has been established to oversee cleanup operations.

Possible COVID 19 Exposure News Release

On Tuesday March 24th a Santa Barbara County Fire Department engine company responded to a call for service for a woman having a medical emergency. The engine company, along with other first responders assisted the woman and she was transported to the hospital. At the hospital, the patient's symptoms began to evolve and become in line with symptoms of COVID-19.
