SANTA BARBARA Ca. June 30, 2015- Santa Barbara County Fire Investigators are seeking information regarding the Mesa Fire in Lompoc. They are looking for anyone with information about one to two individuals, most likely juveniles, who were on a hiking trail behind the water treatment plant at the time of the fire. SANTA BARBARA, CA. June 22, 2015 – To aid cardiac arrest victims quickly, The PulsePoint mobile app will be made available to individuals throughout Santa Barbara County beginning Thursday, June 25. This free app, which is available for both android and iPhones, is aimed at average citizens and off-duty professionals trained in CPR. The app alerts registered users when a sudden cardiac arrest occurs in a public place in their immediate vicinity. Informed at the same time as emergency responders, users are given detailed instructions, including the location of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) nearby.

Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors

Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors
On Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 08:30 am until 4:00 pm, Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors will be hosting their 19th annual Quest Rally, traveling throughout Santa Barbara County. The day will start in Santa Maria and finish with a Santa Maria style BBQ at the Santa Barbara City Drill Tower. The Quest Rally occurs each year in June. During this event, the Quest Rally will be making stops at local area fire departments, dispatch communications centers and the Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol who will be making donations. The donations received are distributed on behalf of each donor to local burn centers and foundations as well as burn survivors and their families. The Santa Barbara County Quest Rally is part of a weeklong event covering several inland and southern California counties. Last years’ event raised over $100,000. "Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors" is a non-profit organization. managed by firefighters and civilians who volunteer their services and are dedicated to assist those that have been affected by burn injuries.

Defensible Space Inspections

SANTA BARBARA, Ca. May 27, 2015 –Santa Barbara County Fire Department will be conducting defensible space inspections beginning June 1. A minimum of 100 feet of defensible space is required around your home in Santa Barbara County. Engine companies will perform inspections and provide homeowners with an inspection form and educational material on how to comply. With the year round threat of wildfire in Southern California, the defensible space requirement is enforced at all times in Santa Barbara County. Non-compliant homeowners are subject to be cited.
