Santa Barbara County Fire Department reminds the public that all fireworks, including the so-called safe and sane variety, are illegal in all unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County including the Cities of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, Buellton and Solvang. Safe and Sane fireworks are allowed within the city limits of Santa Maria, Guadalupe and Lompoc.

Visible Numerical Address

If you have an emergency at your home or business, we can’t help you if we can’t find you. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reminds you when you call to request assistance; a vital piece of information is your address. It is important that you have your address visible so that emergency vehicles responding to your aid will be able to reach the scene in a timely manner. The numerical address should be at least 4 inches in height for residential buildings and 6 inches for commercial buildings. Additionally, the address should be attached to a contrasting background and be readily visible from the roadway. It is also helpful if the numbers are reflective so they’re visible at night.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department wants to remind people that this is the time of year that our County experiences sundowner winds. The National Weather Service has issued several wind advisories over the last couple of weeks. Even with rain expected this week, it will probably not be enough to make a difference in the fuel moistures and the fire threat.
