Onshore Oil and Gas Production Facility Pre-Inspection Check List

This guidance document is intended to help the onshore oil and gas production industry comply with the 2007 California Fire Code as adopted with amendments in Chapter 15 of the Santa Barbara County Code. The Onshore Oil and Gas Production Facility Pre-Inspection Check List is a compilation of the common violations noticed by the code official during periodic site inspections of onshore petroleum production facilities involved in, but not limited to, the storage, use, handling, processing, blending, compressing, transporting, treating, and/ or limited refining of hazardous materials, flammable and combustible liquids and flammable gases.

Living With Wildfire

Santa Barbara County is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, but our weather and geography can make our homes easy prey for a wildfire. You have to take personal responsibility to protect yourself, family, and property. Everyone should visit our Defensible Space and Hazard Reduction pages and learn what you can do to protect what you love from the devistating ravages of a wildfire.

Places of Assembly Guide

The many tragic events that occurred in 2003 underscore the importance of proper fire permits and the enforcement of fire regulations. Following fire regulations saves lives! Please download the general regulations and guidelines for places of assembly (.pdf).

Tent and Canopy Permit

Because of the fire hazards involved and the crowds ususally associated with events, the use of tent-type structures must comply with requirements of the Uniform Fire Code. Such structures are usually set-up for outdoor banquets and other gatherings, and while generally safe, there are specific life safety and fire concerns that must be addressed prior to use. Download the tent/canopy permit application and instructions.
